Wieliczka | HUB | Park&Ride | Mediateka 

This design draws inspiration not only from the history of the place but also engages with its surroundings. 

The Park and Ride project combined with the Mediateka in Wieliczka is an innovative architectural solution that blends modernity with a deep respect for the city's historical heritage, known primarily for its salt mine. The main concept of the project is based on creating a complex consisting of two volumes connected by a sloping green roof, inclined on both sides. This layout gains additional space and allows for the creation of a usable rooftop area that can serve both as a recreational space and a green area supporting stormwater retention.

The building's facade symbolizes the process of salt extraction—digging a shape from the earth and lifting it up. The side walls are covered with brown brick, which references the color of the earth, strengthening the bond with the local landscape. Part of the mediateka is level with the ground and embedded into the natural slope on the site, emphasizing the organic character of the building and its connection to the surrounding nature.

Inside the building, the central element is an oval communication core, housing the staircase. The inspiration for this design came from the nearby chimney at the Lenart Hotel, which subtly references the industrial history of Wieliczka and integrates with the local architectural context.

As a result, the project's idea is a harmonious combination of functionality and aesthetics, respecting the historical context of the site while introducing modern solutions.
